timeline II - English edition available from July 2009
"A unique historical account!" "A perfect historical reconstruction that appeals to the imagination!" "What an artistic product!" These are a few of the things John A. Lapp had to say about the unique production by Jacob en Nelleke Schiere. In July 2009 the English edition has been published: timeline II - living echo of Menno Simons.

Timeline was generated by an idea of Kees Knijnenberg's. He was also in charge of the production and publication of this document. The designer Nelleke Schiere and her father Jacob Schiere were responsible for the further form and contents of the concept.
I.Document of significance
leparelloPerhaps you are familiar with the predecessor, Robert Kreider's 1958 Anabaptist Mennonite Timeline. This document on world history and the story of the Mennonites and Anabaptists was informative and there was a lot to be learned from it. It just had one disadvantage, the size. The timeline was 1.5 x 3 metres.

II. Formidabel document
It is true that Timeline II is three metres long, but it is folded concertina style, so it is easy to handle. This leporello contains dates, explanations, maps and pictures of more than 500 years of Mennonite diaspora and world history. The booklet that goes with it contains more information. The two parts are bound in a black heavy quality cover

One striking detail is that the cover of Timeline II comes from The Schoolmaster, a paper mill in Westzaan that was the property of a Mennonite family for centuries. Several other mills of Mennonite paper-makers supplied the paper the American Declaration of Independence was printed on.

Timeline II is a historic document of significance, the living echo of people who share the views of Menno Simons.
