Quilts "Comfort, they just comfort you". This is one feature An Keuning-Tichelaar readily attributes to quilts. Of course there is more. A lot more, even a patchwork of stories.

In the book Passing on the Comfort. The War, the Quilts and the Women Who Made a Difference, An Keuning-Tichelaar and Lynn Kaplanian-Buller tell the stories behind the quilts. Personal stories focused on resistance and connection, inspiration and creativity, solidarity and encounters. The book gives an animated impression of the war years and the post-war period, when Mennonites and Anabaptists helped shelter destitute brothers and sisters who fled from the east.
By recounting this chapter of history, the authors provide greater insight into the Mennonite and Anabaptist movement. In this case, the term movement can be taken very literally. By ordering the book, you will also be supporting the International Menno Simons Center.
